Daniel Roukema is an award-winning strategist with more than 30 years of experience supporting non-profits and public sector organizations. His work advances public trust, accountability, and effective decision-making through governance, strategic communications, and organizational design. He advises regulatory Boards and Councils on complex issues, helping leaders make informed, evidence-based decisions that strengthen oversight, relevance, and public confidence.
He has worked with organizations across Canada and internationally to navigate complex change, including mergers, legislated transformations, and strategic realignments. A respected advisor, facilitator, and speaker, Daniel brings a deep commitment to the public interest and a strong track record of helping institutions become more effective, accountable, and future-focused. He has led major advisory initiatives across the regulatory sector, including large-scale public engagement projects, governance modernization initiatives, and strategic communications programs supporting regulators nationwide.
Daniel is also the producer of the AI in Regulation Conference, editor of The Registrar magazine, and leads MDR’s international work related to regulatory cooperation and labour mobility. He is currently pursuing his Certified Director (C.Dir) designation.
His leadership has been recognized with multiple honours, including the Consumer Protection Award from the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation in 2016 and the 2024 Regulatory Excellence Award for MDR Strategy Group.
