Candice Alder is a clinical counsellor/psychotherapist and AI ethicist. Candice is an IEEE CertifAIed authorized assessor of emerging AI systems, an IEEE Standards Association contributor, a teaching fellow with the Centre for AI and Digital Policy, and the principal consultant and co-founder of Synthetica. Candice is also the author of Canada’s first guideline for the ethical integration of AI into clinical practice, published March 2025.
 
Candice is the president of the Board of Directors for the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), leading the governance of BC’s largest professional association and regulator of mental health professionals.
 
In her therapeutic role, Candice has spent the last 20 years working with children and families in public service, non-profit, and private practice settings in various communities in BC.
