Dr Anna van der Gaag CBE is Visiting Professor of Ethics and Regulation at the University of Surrey, UK. Recent work includes exploring the use of decision support tools in disciplinary procedures working with regulators in the US, Australia and the UK. She has a particular focus on how regulators can make complaints processes less resource intensive and more compassionate for all parties.
Anna was Chair of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a multi professional regulator of 15 professions from 2006-2015. She also served on the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (now the UK Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care) and has held chairing roles in health, legal and gambling regulation. Anna contributes to the field of professional regulation internationally, with a particular focus on building the evidence base of regulation and promoting good governance.
